The School Library

Autumn Term

October 20, 2014 | Leave a Comment

WOW! What a year we have had. The library has had a massive makeover to make room for more reading resources, which have been extremely well received by both the children and staff. I am finding more and more children are borrowing books and learning to enjoy reading for pleasure. With the introduction of the library policy I am also finding that children are becoming more respectful of our books, in terms of both returning and looking after them. I would like to thank all parents/guardians for your support and encouragement in the importance of books and reading.
Please can I also thank you for all your efforts in helping your children to dress up for World Book Day. This was a fun and interesting day with lots of characters and also Emma Barnes, a childrens author, who came and spoke to the children about reading and writing and hopefully gave inspiration to those budding authors out there.
I have lots more planned for this coming year :-
A book review competition for children to win a ticket to the theatre. The closing date for entries is 24th October 2014.
Pantomime performences “HE’S BEHIND YOU!”
The Leeds Book Awards – Mini book club, if your child may be interested in this ask them to come and seek me out for more information.
Author visit to incorporate with World Book Day 2015. Get your thinking caps on ready for dressing up.
I will keep you all posted and upload photos and names of all the winners for the book review competition and inform you of any other news that may arise.
Thank you for reading and keep your eyes peeled !!!
